  1. Summer Break Feeding Program

    June 14, 2018, All Day @ Lake Lansing Meijer

    Supplemental food is offered to families with school-aged children to help make up for the meals children usually receive while school is in session. This event (PDF) offering free family food boxes to households with school-age children will be held at the Lake Lansing Meijer (1350 W. Lake Lansing Rd.) on Thursday, June 14th, 2018. The time to pick-up the food boxes will provided upon registration. To participate you must register with the City of Lansing Human Relations and Community Services department. Please call 517-483-4477 if you have questions regarding the event. Requirements for Participation • Pre-event registration is mandatory. Register by calling (517) 483-4477 • Identification for each child such as student school ID, medicaid card, or birth certificates.

    This three-day state holiday commemorates the end of slavery in the United States by celebrating the joys of liberty, educating the community about African-American heritage and promoting positive cultural interaction.   3. South Lansing Farmers Market

    June 14, 2018, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ St. Casimir Catholic Church

    Visit dozens of local farmers and vendors selling fresh, locally-grown fruits and veggies, cut flowers, herbs, pastured chicken, grass-fed beef, jerky, breads, butter, roasted coffee, sweet treats, eggs, honey, syrup, caramel corn, soaps, lotions, and hand-made jewelry, fabric and wood crafts. The South Lansing Farmers Market also offers massage, live entertainment, kids’ activities, tips for healthy eating, and recipe samples. Delicious Chinese, Cuban, and Mexican foods are also available for dining or take-out at the market. The market is held every Thursday from 3-7 p.m. in the parking lot at St. Casimir Catholic Church. If it rains, the market is held inside the St. Casimir Gym. Shoppers can use VISA, MasterCard, SNAP Bridge Cards, Double Up Food Bucks, and Market FRESH coupons. Pet-friendly!
