City of Lansing Launches Spring Cleanup Leading to LOVE Lansing Weekend May 15-16, 2021

(LANSING) — Mayor Andy Schor today announced the City of Lansing’s Spring Cleanup initiative and upcoming cleanup events around the city. The Department of Neighborhoods and Citizen Engagement will work with volunteer groups to provide supplies to residents interested in holding a small-scale cleanup. These small cleanups will lead up to LOVE (Local Organization and Volunteer Excellence) Lansing Weekend, May 15-16, 2021.

As a part of LOVE Lansing Weekend, 300 Neighborhoods in Bloom Kits will be delivered to neighborhoods who applied across the city. There will also be a number of large-scale cleanups including the Old Town Commercial Association and the Lansing Board of Water and Light’s Adopt-A-River event.

“Lansing residents are ready to get out and clean up our city. We are happy to partner with volunteers to host cleanups over the next month throughout the city, leading up to LOVE Lansing Weekend,” said Mayor Schor. “I appreciate all of the volunteers who are willing to step up and participate. The City of Lansing is our home and it’s important that we can take pride in our city.”

The small-scale cleanup kits will include: SERVE Lansing t-shirts for volunteers, two rolls of trash bags for every five volunteers, work gloves, and yard waste bags. Residents are encouraged to apply to hold a cleanup in their neighborhood, on a commercial corridor or in a park. To apply for a cleanup kit, visit: lansingmi.gov/cleanupkits
