Mayor Schor Participates in 2020 Local America Presidential Forum

Mayor Schor Interviews Secretary Castro

Mayor Andy Schor was one of five Mayors invited to interview presidential candidates about their policies for local America during the 2020 Local America Presidential Forum in Waterloo, Iowa, hosted by Accelerator for America Action and the U.S. Conference of Mayors. The debate was non-partisan, and all major party candidate were invited to participate in the event.   

“It was an incredible honor to be selected as one of only five mayors to participate in the Accelerator for America/U.S. Conference of Mayors Local America Presidential Forum,” said Mayor Andy Schor. “Lansing is being put on a national stage to help ensure important city issues are a part of the conversation in the presidential election.” 

Interview pairings were the following:

  • Senator Amy Klobuchar was interviewed by Mayor Quentin Hart, Waterloo, IA
  • Secretary Julián Castro was interviewed by Mayor Andy Schor, Lansing, MI
  • Senator Cory Booker was interviewed by Mayor Bob Scott, Sioux City, IA
  • Businessman Tom Steyer was interviewed by Mayor Quinton Lucas, Kansas City, MO
  • Mayor Pete Buttigieg was interviewed by Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Chicago, IL

Mayor Schor Serves on the Advisory Board for Accelerator for America. Accelerator for America Action was founded in 2017 by Rick Jacobs and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. They seek to scale and replicate local solutions to economic insecurity across the country.
