(LANSING) – The City of Lansing Public Service Department announces that Pine Street surface reconstruction will begin on Monday, May 14th. The project is expected to be completed by May 25th.“Pine Street is desperately in need of repair. It is a main artery through our downtown, and is in poor shape. While we have very limited road dollars, I am excited that we are able to get this street fixed now that the necessary utility work has been done,” said Mayor Andy Schor. To allow for resurfacing, Pine Street will be closed between Shiawassee and Ottawa Street. Motorists should plan to use either Capital Avenue or Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The intersection of Pine and Ionia Street will be closed for the duration of the project. In addition, Pine street will be closed between Allegan and St. Joseph Street. The intersection of Pine and Kalamazoo will also be closed for the duration of the project.“Pine Street has been on our street repair list for several years and we are thrilled that an increase in road funding from the state and partnering on utility work enabled us to complete this work,” said Public Service Director Andy Kilpatrick. If you are interested in learning more about our roads and their funding, please join Mayor Andy Schor and Public Service Director Andy Kilpatrick at the final Neighborhood Road Map Tour of the year on June 7th at Foster Community Center at 6:00PM. Attendees will have an opportunity to provide input regarding how they would like their road dollars to be spent in the future.Click here to sign up for future Traffic Advisories from the Lansing Public Service Department.
