Flooding Disaster Assistance Available for Lansing Home and Business Owners

Flooding Disaster Assistance Available for Lansing Home and Business Owners

(LANSING) – The Small Business Administration (SBA) has opened a Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Lansing to serve victims of the area’s February floods. The SBA is offering low interest loans to eligible homeowners and business owners to help with flood recovery.

SBA loans can be used to repair damage, replace damaged items, recover from business losses, or to flood-proof homes and businesses against future damage.

Assistance is available to Lansing residents who experienced damage from flooding or from the storms that occurred in the week leading up to the flooding. Residents do not have to live in the floodplain to be eligible.

“While city employees did a great job preventing $2.25 million in damage to Lansing residents and businesses, many still experienced significant damage due to the flooding last month. These low-interest loans will be helpful to all affected as they try to pay to replace things damaged by the flood waters. I appreciate the SBA’s help here in Lansing,” said Mayor Andy Schor.

Application for assistance can also be made by phone at 1-800-659-2955 or online at http://www.sba.gov/disaster. Residents can find out more information in person by visiting the Foster Community Center at the hours listed below.
