Human services funds designated by the City of Lansing are administered by the Human Relations and Community Services Department. The department enters into and monitors contractual agreements with community-based non-profit charitable organizations for the provision of human services.
The city of Lansing is the Collaborative Applicant for federal funding from HUD for homeless assistance projects through the Continuum of Care (CoC) Program. The CoC Program is designed to promote a community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; to provide funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, States and local governments to quickly re-house people experiencing homelessness while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused by homelessness; to promote access to and effective utilization of mainstream programs by people experiencing homelessness; and to optimize self-sufficiency of those experiencing homelessness.
