Stormwater Controls for Development

Consistent with federal and state regulatory requirements for the discharge of municipal stormwater, the City of Lansing is required to assure that all new development and redevelopment projects within the City are compliant with minimum standards for control of stormwater runoff from the site, including:
  • Treatment of suspended solids concentrations in the stormwater runoff
  • Infiltration of stormwater runoff to provide attenuation of flow rates so receiving stream banks and rivers are protected from the effects of erosion and scouring.
The City’s stormwater management policies and procedures and the associated design criteria for achieving compliance with these requirements on sites of new development and redevelopment can be reviewed in detail by downloading the Policies and Procedures Manual (PDF) and the Design Manual.
