The Public Service Department consists of six divisions that provide and maintain key public infrastructure and services for the citizens of Lansing.
Operations & Maintenance is in charge of trash and recycling, maintenance of streets, sidewalks, signs and flood control and sanitary sewer systems as well as sustainable forestry and winter maintenance.
Engineering plans, designs, constructs and maintains streets, bridges, sidewalks, bike facilities, traffic signals and sewer and flood control systems. Wastewater Systems collects, pumps, processes and treats the City's wastewater. Business, Permits & Technology provides administrative support, budgeting, traffic advisories, issues all public service permits and performs inspections on these permits.
Property Management operates and maintains all City owned buildings and facilities and provides support for special events. Fleet Services maintains the City's vehicles (police cars, fire trucks, etc.) and heavy equipment.
