Recycle Rama

UPDATE: Due to COVID-19, this event has been cancelled. Updates regarding alternate drop-off locations for recyclables will be provided soon. We appreciate your flexibility during this time!

The Greater Lansing Area's annual event, Recycle Rama, is quickly approaching! The largest one-day recycling event will be on Saturday, Aprile 18th, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Ingham County Health Department (5303 S. Cedar St., Lansing).

Recycle Rama accepts a wide variety of recyclable materials that are no longer wanted. Some of these items include: light bulbs, medications, bicycles, scrap metal, electronics, room air conditioners and more.

For individuals who want to participate but do not have anything to donate, there are volunteer opportunities available at the event, as well. 

Simple Recycling

IMPORTANT: In response to the State of Michigan’s Executive Order regarding COVID-19, effective Tuesday, March 24, 2020, Simple Recycling will temporarily suspend all recycling collections until further notice. Please visit Simple Recycling or call the Public Service Department for additional information.

EGLE - Recycling Raccoons

The City of Lansing has partnered with Environment, Great Lakes & Energy (EGLE) - State of Michigan's "Know It Before You Throw It" recycling campaign. Lansing values recycling and is excited to team up with the recycling raccoons to help encourage and educate the community on how to best practice sustainability.

Yard Waste Drop-Off

Yard waste pickup is anticipated to begin again during the week of Monday, April 13, 2020. Please remember to keep the yard waste guidelines in mind when placing bags at the curbside.

Blue City Trash Bags 

Blue City trash bags are discontinued and no longer being picked up as of the end of the 2019 calendar year.
