Policy-setting body which oversees public housing programs within the City, and "shall at all times strictly limit itself to the needs of those families and individuals (including, but not by way of limitation, the elderly, handicapped and those displaced by urban renewal or other governmental action) who are in the lowest income group and cannot afford to pay enough to cause private enterprise in the metropolitan-area to build an adequate supply of decent, safe and sanitary dwellings for their use (2601.01.)."
The housing commission shall consist of 5 at-large members to be appointed by the Mayor that do not require Council confirmations. The term of office of each member of the Commission shall be 5 years. Members of the Commission shall serve without compensation and may be removed from office by the Mayor. Any vacancy in office shall be filled by the Mayor for the remainder of the term (2602.02).
