Mobile Food Pantry

Mobile Food Pantry

Lansing's monthly Mobile Food Pantry will be held at the Pennway Church of God, August 15, 2015 from 9:00-11:00 AM. The HRCS Department will be distributing free, non-perishable food items. Participants must bring a valid ID and a box or bag to carry the items.

The 15th Annual Mayor's Senior Activities Fair is August 13th at Gardner Middle School! Join us for a day of fellowship and fun with this educational, interactive fair. The free event allows you to interact with a variety of vendors covering senior living to senior health. No RSVP required.

Ramadan Unity Essay Contest

Announcing the 2015 Mayors' Ramadan Unity Dinner Essay Contest hosted by Mayors Virg Bernero and Nathan Triplett. Open to all high school seniors and college students, the 250 to 500 word essay submission deadline is Thursday, August 27th, at 5:00 p.m. This year's theme is "Hope, Not Hunger."

The Michigan Municipal League presents "Convert Capitol Avenue" from July 27-31, in downtown Lansing. Each day will feature fun activities designed to show how a lively, interactive, people-focus can take shape on Capitol Avenue.

Police/Community Discussion

City officials, partners & community members took part in a roundtable discussion regarding best practices in police-community relations with special guest Cincinnati Judge Cheryl Grant. Mayor Bernero & the LPD will continue to engage the community to help strengthen police-community relations.
LPD Body-worn Camera Project

LPD Body-worn Camera Project

The Lansing Police Department will be testing several different models of body-worn cameras on a trial basis to determine the best technology for the Lansing officers. Full deployment for this project is expected in late fall of this year. 
Lansing Sister Cities Awarded

Lansing Sister Cities Awarded

The Lansing Regional Sister Cities Commission (LRSCC) announced today that the organization has won the 2015 Sister Cities International Innovation in Arts & Culture Award for cities with a population between 100,001 and 500,000. 
$1 Million for Lansing Promise

$1 Million for Lansing Promise

Mayor Bernero recently presented the Key to the City to Lansing native Earvin "Magic" Johnson at the Lansing Promise Scholarship Dinner. Johnson (and friends) gave $800,000 of the $1 Million raised. The scholarship is a shining success, due largely to the dedication of the local Promise Board.
