Yard Waste Services

There are a variety of options for handling yard waste, including curbside pick-up or on site composting, grasscycling, and mulching.

Curbside Collection

Leaves, grass clippings, tree trimmings and other organic yard waste materials are picked up weekly.  The curbside collection of yard waste operates seasonally between April and November.

RAKING LEAVES INTO THE STREET IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE CITY OF LANSING AND CAN CAUSE HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS, CLOG CATCH BASINS AND CREATE PROBLEMS FOR NEIGHBORS.  PLEASE DO NOT RAKE LEAVES INTO THE STREET.

Backyard Composting

Through the natural process of composting, leaves and grass clippings from your yard can be transformed into a nutrient-rich substance called compost.

Grasscycling

Grass cycling returns valuable nutrients to the soil, saves the time and effort of bagging the clippings and minimizes the expense of curbside collection.

Mulching

Mulching has a number of benefits including reduced watering, controling insects, and adding nutrients to the soil. Shredded leaves, grass clippings, hay, straw, pine needles and other yard materials can be used as mulch.
