Lansing 150 Grand Finale / Holiday Sing-Along
Lansing 150 Grand Finale is Friday, November 20, 2009 immediately following Silver Bells in the City. Sponsored by the Lansing Sesquicentennial Foundation, it will be held from 8:00 pm ? 11:00 pm in the Lansing Center. This event concludes Lansing?s year long Sesquicentennial Birthday Party and will include free entertainment and a free reception.
The Grand Finale Reception will be in the Lansing Centers North Pointe Café and River Street Pub from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm. This family-friendly party will include free Birthday Cake, free food and beverages, and a cash bar.
There will be free Entertainment from 9:00 pm - 10:30 pm in Hall C. The program will begin with a Community Sing-A-Long. Join MSU conductor Sandra Snow in singing several holiday classics. A concert performance by Ms. Bettye LaVette will immediately follow. Ms. LaVette is known as The Great Lady of Soul. Born in Muskegon Michigan and raised in Detroit, Ms. LaVette recorded her first single at the age of 16. She sang a duet with Jon Bon Jovi at We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial and made an appearance at Lansing?s Common Ground Music Festival in July 2009. The evening will conclude with the community singing a few more traditional songs.
