Station 46
Station 6 was located at the corner of Pennsylvania and Oakland between 1925 and 1962 when it was combined with Station 10 and moved to 3708 Pleasant Grove Road the station was renumbered back to Station 6 in 1996.
The current 12,000 square foot station located at 5135 Pleasant Grove Road was opened in 2001 and currently staffs Engine 46, Truck 46 (105' platform), Squad 46 (Hazardous materials response unit), and Medic 46 (an advanced life support transport ambulance).
Station 6 is a Hazardous Materials focus station and is part of the Lansing Metro response team that would respond with assistance from our partners to a situation within Lansing, East Lansing, Meridian and Delta Townships. Station 6 is also a partner of the Michigan Regional Response Team Network (RRTN) which would respond if requested within the Sate of Michigan. This network allows squads of Hazardous Materials Technicians to respond with similar equipment, skills, and communications.
Station 46 protects the southwest side of Lansing, which has single family residential, several multiple family residential, commercial, manufacturing, schools, and transportation issues along the Interstate 96 corridor as well as major surface street corridors within the city. Station 46 also assists the Fire Marshal's Division in the inspection of Hazardous Material sites throughout the city.
