Special Efforts

The LPD has a variety special effort units. These units allow citizens to become engaged with the LPD and help make the community a better place.

Officer to Officer Mentor Program

The Lansing Police Department Mentor Program is the brainchild of Julie Williams. Having hired 42% of its sworn personnel in the four years prior to 1997, LPD implemented the Mentor Program in 1997 to enhance retention and as a method to systematically share technical knowledge of senior officers with junior officers.

Volunteer Opportunities

Become a Lansing Police Department Volunteer!  There are a number of volunteer opportunities for citizens to join the LPD team.

Lansing Police Explorer Post #911
