Volunteer Opportunities

The LPD has a variety special effort units. These units allow citizens to become engaged with the LPD and help make the community a better place. VolunteerApplication

Victim Advocate Program

Victims Advocate volunteers assist Officers with distressed citizens in a crisis. Victim Advocate volunteers provide support, comfort, and referrals for victims and families when a trumatic event occurs. Volunteers are essential in assisting Officers with citizens in dealing with situations of death, serious traffic accidents, house fires. Volunteers work in pairs and are on call 12 hour blocks from 6 pm to 6 am.

Information Desk

Volunteers assist citizens who have walk-in questions and general information requests by working the front desk at the LPD Operations Center, located at 5815 Wise Rd. The hours vary throughout the week from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Riverwalk Trail Patrol

A program for volunteers to patrol the Riverwalk Trail along the Grand River during the months of May 1st - October 31st. Patrol times vary to fit each individual volunteers needs. Volunteers must work in pairs and will parrol the trials utilizing a golf cart to greet, visit with, and assist trail users.
