Yard Waste - Curbside Collection
Leaves, grass clippings, tree trimmings and other organic yard waste materials are picked up weekly on a seasonal basis, usually between April and November (see calendar of events page for current dates.) Residents may place as much material at the curbside as needed, provided it complies with the guidelines listed below:
Option #1
Place materials in paper yard waste bags. Paper bags are available at many local grocery and convenience stores. Bags weighing over 30 pounds will not be collected.
Option #2
Bundle brush and tree trimmings securely with string or twine (NO wire). Branches must be less than 4 feet in length and 2 inches in diameter.
PLEASE DO NOT USE CITY OF LANSING BLUE BAGS, BLUE CARTS OR PRIVATE WASTE HAULER CARTS FOR YARD CLIPPINGS.
Residents are no longer allowed to use rigid containers for yard waste collection. Click Here for more information.
NOTE: Citizens with certain apparent and/or documented physical limitations that make using paper bags difficult or impossible may be eligible to receive an exemption to use rigid containers for yard waste collection. Please contact Steve Chalker, Recycling Coordinator at 483-7633 for more information.
