Reuse-A-Shoe Program
The City of Lansing has collected nearly 80,000 pounds of worn-out athletic shoes through Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe recycling program. The shoes are shipped to Nike's processing facility in Oregon, where they are turned into new sports surfaces.
The City of Lansing received a grant to install a rubberized playground surface at Potter Park Zoo made from the ground up athletic shoes. Click Here to view pictures of the installation and finished product.

All brands of athletic shoes are accepted
No metal, cleats or spikes
No dress shoes, sandals, boots or other types of shoes will be accepted
