Lansing CSO

Have you ever heard the phrase "more than meets the eye"?  Well, the Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control Program is kind of like that. While many of the construction projects you see around town are working to improve Lansing's roads, that's only one part of the effort. The CSO Control Program itself has little to do with what "meets the eye" (or rather, meets your tires), and everything to do with what's going on below the surface...

To learn more about the Lansing CSO Control Program (and what exactly is going on below the surface), check out the CSO story.

Why CSO Matters

When Lansing's 30-year CSO Control Program is completed in the year 2020, the City will have:

  • eliminated 1.65 billion gallons of raw sewage from entering the Grand River each year of CSO
  • protected the Grand and Red Cedar Rivers, and four of the five Great Lakes
  • revitalized hundreds of miles of sanitary sewers and roads
  • addressed Federal and State regulatory requirements
