North Precinct
The Lansing Police Department North Precinct is located at 740 May Street. It encompasses 15 square miles and is bounded by the east, west, and north city limits, with a southern boundary of highway I-496 and the Grand River. There are a total of 47,800 residents that reside within the boundaries of the North Precinct. The North Precinct contains the oldest established neighborhoods within the City and as a result there are several long-standing neighborhood groups that meet on a regular basis to discuss their neighborhood issues. These groups regularly interact with the North Precinct officers to effectively identify and respond to crime problems within their given neighborhoods. The Captain of the North Precinct is Ray Hall. Capt. Halls can be reached at 517-483-4663, or email at rhall@lansingmi.gov.
The field lieutenants are each assigned to a shift and are responsible for the day to day operations of that shift. The day shift Lieutenant is Lisa Philips . The afternoon shift Lieutenant is Stephen Person and the night shift is lead by Lieutenant Bruce Ferguson, All sergeants and officers in the precinct are assigned to a team area. In addition to answering calls for service, they have the responsibility of solving long term problems within their designated team areas.
The North Precinct also has 13 detectives and 2 detective sergeants who do follow-up investigations on crimes that occur. Each team area has a team detective who is responsible for follow-up on crimes that occur in their assigned team area. There is also additional support for the precinct from the other special units that exist within the Department, depending on the situation.
The North Precinct follows the same philosophy and goals as articulated by Chief Mark Alley. Those are crime reduction, effective reduction of calls for service, and citizen satisfaction. The North Precinct takes pride in its cooperative crime fighting efforts with the residents it serves and believes that it is doing an outstanding job in providing Police services to the residents of our community.
