Welcome to the Lansing Police Department
Chief Michael Yankowski
On behalf of the men and women who comprise the Lansing Police Department (LPD), I want to welcome you to our web page. As the Chief of Police for the Capital City of Michigan, it is truly an honor and a privilege to lead such a talented and honorable group of police professionals.
The City of Lansing is a diverse community with over 114,000 residents. For the past 120 years, the LPD has been a leader in innovative policing; a founder and believer of Community Policing. Community engagement is paramount to policing. We will continue to work together with our neighborhoods, businesses and schools to build strong community partnerships that help keep our city safe.
The LPD embraces a community-based, problem-oriented, data-driven policing strategy that emphasizes the use of problem-solving and community policing techniques and a reliance on data to identify threats, measure the results of our interventions, and to hold ourselves accountable; to each other and to our community.
I encourage you to explore our website and review the services that we provide to the community. On our website, you will find a host of information about the LPD, as well as many features that allow you to get directly involved in the safety of your community.
Thank you for actively engaging the Lansing Police Department to enhance the quality of life for all who live, work, and visit our world class City. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.
I can be reached at (517) 483-4800 or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org
