Welcome
rule

Welcome to the City of Lansing's IPACE Project website.  IPACE is an acronym for roads in the project area including the I-96 interchange area, Pennsylvania Avenue, American Road, Cedar Street, and Edgewood Boulevard.  The purpose of this site is to provide information on the project and give updates as the project progresses.  We encourage you to visit the site often for current project information, schedules of public meetings, and other project milestones.

Project Goals

The City of Lansing, in cooperation with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is conducting a study of the IPACE Area.  The main goals of the project are to:

  • Evaluate current and future traffic operations and identify problems
  • Develop road improvement options to improve and simplify circulation patterns, traffic operations, and safety
  • Encourage economic development and redevelopment in the area
  • Create an attractive gateway into the southern part of the City

Location
The project area is focused around the I-96 interchange with Cedar Street and Pennsylvania Avenue on the south side of the City of Lansing.  The project is generally bordered by Miller Road on the north and the I-96 overpass of Cedar Street to the south.  Other streets within the project area include Edgewood Boulevard and American Road.  The project location is shown on the map to the right.  An aerial photograph of the project area is also available.
