Overview Program Description
History comes alive for children at Turner-Dodge!
There are two camp themes for our 4-day camps: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Happiness Camp and Chores Galore and Simeple Pleasures each with a session for History Adventurers, who have completed K through 2nd grade, and for Time Travelers, who have completed 3rd through 5th grade. These camps meet from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, Monday-Thursday.
Harry Potter Day has expanded to THREE sessions, one in June and one in August for kids who have completed 2nd grade and older (no age limit). Each is held twice to accommodate everyone.
The new Harry Potter Day is for those 11 years and up. We've added two exciting 2-day camps about 110 Yeas Ago and 160 Years Ago for grades 2-6.)

Four-Day Camps Explore Good Ideas
These morning camps teach about important eras in American History from the perspective of local history. A hands-on approach is used that involves creativity, physical activity, and fun. Children develop both understanding and appreciation for history and our culture that will last a lifetime.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Happiness Camp
What is happiness all about? Mary Poppins knew, do you? Learn what made the people of long ago happy and be happy while doing it! Learn some good old fashioned ideas about how to cheer up, amuse your friends and family and feel content.

Chores Galore and Simple Pleasures
Imagine yourself in the 1900s as a child in the age of invention. The Dodge Family lived at a time when life was made easier with new creations such as electric light, telephones, trolley cars and the ice cream maker. We=ll do activities that the Dodge children did for chores and fun in the summer.

Two-Day Camps on Special Topics
160 Years Ago
Imagine arriving in Lansing in 1847 and staying in a tent while the forest was cleared for your house. Learn about Lansing's beginnings and the people who lived here! Experience pioneer chores, school days and pioneer games. Bring your lunch. Grades 2-6.

110 Years Ago

Harry Potter Day at the Turner-Dodge House Campus!
Come for a day of enchantment and fun at our 149-year-old mansion, transformed into the Hogwarts School, Turner-Dodge Campus. Attend classes just like your favorite wizards, Harry, Hermione, and Ron! Play in the Quidditch Tournament. Help your House win the Annual Cup. For all who have completed grade 2 and up. Wear a costume if you like. Bring a sack lunch and we'll provide the brew! $12

This is a good introduction to Harry Potter Day. It offers some of the favorite classes and activities of our past Harry Potter Day schools and adds some new twists.

New - Harry Potter Day for Prefects
Advanced Hogwarts School classes for the older kids, 11 and up. You asked for it, and here it is. Stretch your imagination, hone your skills. Prefect preparatory classes. Hope to work at Hogwarts some day; this would be a good program for you.

Scholarships
Available to Lansing residents who meet Federal HUD low income guidelines for the Lansing area. A small co-payment is required at the time of application. Please don't hesitate to inquire.
Refund Policy
Full refund if camp is canceled by Lansing Parks and Recreation. Full refund, less $5.00 service charge if withdrawal request is made one week prior to camp date. One-half refund, less $5.00, if request is made before second camp day. No refund after second day of camp.
