The Friends of Turner-Dodge mission is to protect the building's integrity and enhance the house and grounds. We are proud of the work to restore the interior of the house to its 1903 grandeur, to restore the gardens and support the cultural program (and have lots of fun while doing it.) The Friends is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.
Friends Only Holiday Open House Preview Party
This year the Friends of Turner-Dodge holds a special For Members Only Holiday Open House on the first Friday in December, 7 p.m. The event is free, so if you are not already a member, please join soon and don't miss this wonderful way to kick off the December holidays.
The Jewel Project
In March of 2001, The Friends officially launched the Turner-Dodge House Historic Preservation Project, with Christine Hollister as Chair. Mrs. Hollister graciously agreed to lead this project because of the importance of architectural historic preservation in Lansing, Michigan's State Capital. The funds are used toward restoration projects for Turner-Dodge. With the major portion of the restoration complete, we have developed a new WISH LIST of items that we need for the house which totals about $60,000 and includes renovation of the kitchen, reproduction of family hand-painted plates for the dining room, and period ballroom chairs.
THE LANSING JEWEL PROJECT includes an extensive "Buy a Brick" fund-raising campaign.
The bricks are inscribed to commemorate, honor, or memorialize individuals at the donor's request, then placed within our newly designed garden walkway. There is a special section for "Turner-Dodge Sweethearts" which includes many of the couples who have been married at
Turner-Dodge House.
I can't tell you what a pleasure it is to work with the Board and all of you Friends. I hope to see all
of you at some of the events planned at the House. We need your help.
