Kindergarten

Seasonal Changes  - Observation and discussion of daily and seasonal weather change.  Includes a discussion of life cycles of the season.             

Tree Homes  - What do organisms need to survive, and how living and non-living trees provide food and shelter.

First Grade

Plant and/or Animal Families  - Compare and contrast physical attributes

Geology for the Beginner  - Rocks, soils, water and surface features

Natural Habitats – Investigate the differences and similarities between              

   forest, fields and ponds.

Second Grade

How Plants Grow  - Identify plant parts and their function, life cycles 

Mother Earth  - Investigate the importance of air, water and soil to us and all living things.

Third Grade

The Earth's Surface  - Soil formation, types (sizes) of earth materials,

   fossils, water sources, glaciers, erosion, human use

Cycles in Nature  - Life cycles of  plants and animals

The Pond Community  - Aquatic food web, adaptations (Microscope use

   available upon request w/ extended time)

Fourth Grade

Survival Strategies  - Physical/behavioral adaptations of plants and  animals

Ecosystems -  Inter-relationships of plants and animals to each other and the physical environment, consequences of environmental change

Fifth Grade

Tipping the Balance  - Causes of population decline and extinction, such as environmental changes, introduction on non-native species, etc.

Birds of Michigan  - Behaviors and physical adaptations in different habitats, and learn to use binoculars

Earth Science  - Rock and soil formation, soil types and composition
