Other Facilities

Training Tower

Tower / Extrication / Classrooms

3015 Alpha St.
Lansing MI 48910

The Training tower is a multi-use facility. This hollow multi-story building is a way to practice high rise operations. That can mean hose line attack, standpipe operation, repelling and laddering techniques. The space allows for practicing vehicle extrication.

A separate area is available for confined space and collapse training.

The classroom building is on site for teaching a variety of continuing education and officer development classes.

Central Garage

Mechanical Services

312 N. Cedar
Lansing MI 48912

The fleet of vehicles operated by LFD are maintained by mechanics at the City of Lansing's central garage.

They cover the range from major repairs, brake jobs, pump rebuilding to working on our 105' aerial towers. These guys keep us running and even manage custom design modifications to fit specialty equipment and tools.

A mechanic may be called to respond to multiple alarm fires. These big rigs are under a lot of load when working at fires. They can't go to the fuel pumps, so the pumps come to them. A mechanic is on call to respond with tools, know-how and a fuel supply to keep things operating without ever interrupting firefighting efforts.
