$8.25/hr. for returning staff
The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 3:30-6:30 up to 12 hours/week, depending on needs of programs additional evening/weekend work may be available.

Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or GED.
At least one (1) year of college-level course work in elementary education,
human services, parks and recreation or related fields preferred.
Previous experience communicating and interacting with children individually
and in a group setting preferred.
Finally, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their experience
and competence in oral and written communication.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of group communication.
Knowledge of general department procedures and policies.
Skill in facilitating groups of children in an after school program setting
utilizing both indoor and outdoor activities.
Ability to develop and adapt program plans according to student abilities
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work in a within a team.
Ability to communicate effectively with parents and/ guardians of participants to
keep them informed of program activities and their child(ren)'s participation.
Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate records of several aspects
Ability to proactively identify tasks that need to be accomplished and work
independently to ensure their completion.
Physical Capacity Requirements:
This position requires the ability to walk, speak, hear, lift, carry, finger dexterity, and visual acuity. It also requires the ability to lift 10 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. Environmental Conditions of Position:
The work associated with this position can occur in a classroom environment, office environment and the outdoor environment in all kinds of weather and in uneven terrain.
Essential Position Functions: Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Programmer/Building Supervisor will undertake the following responsibilities:
Supervision of children ages 5-12
Lead, plan and/or participate in activities of balanced recreation program in
accordance with the aims and objectives of After School Program, including but
not limited to: performing arts, crafts, games, nature activities, special
events, instructional sports, games, swimming and day trips.
Responsible for implementing safe play practices and for the management of
age-appropriate levels of fair play and competitive play.
Light janitorial and clerical duties, including set up and take down for
programs, inventory of equipment, maintaining records of activity and program
Opening, staffing, and closing a site
Promotion of program with posters, flyers and other creative displays
Provide assistance to the public in person and on the phone
