Entrepreneurial Mentorship Program

Program Vision
In collaboration with MSU Career Services and The Greater Lansing Business Monthly the LEDC has developed an initiative to capitalize on the business ideas and creative minds of our local student talent. The program will guide student entrepreneurs through the planning process for the creation of a business. Each student participant will be paired with a local entrepreneur who will steer them to create a proper business plan, budget and overall concept of their own company. The program will filter through students to find the truly exceptional entrepreneurs, pair them with their professional match and then follow them through the stages. The anticipated end result is the creation of a new company that will contribute to the regional economy.

Program Execution
We will manage a program registration process where certain criteria must be met for a student to enter into the Entrepreneurial Mentorship Program. Criteria development will involve input from potential mentors and economic development officials. The most suited students with the most realistic concepts for entrepreneurialism will be chosen to participate. From here the match process will begin. We will be looking into our community to find successful entrepreneurs that will be willing to mentor our students. The program will run for an entire school year, August through May, with student selection occurring in April of the previous year. By the completion of the program we will select a company proposal to implement and take to the next step with proper funding.

Evaluation
We anticipate a thorough evaluation of both mentors and students to ensure that the most production and meaningful relationships are created.
