Emergency Communications Technician I

Salary: $33,509 - $44,470/yr

Requirements Include: THIS POSITION IS TO ESTABLISH A ROSTER OF ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES FOR FUTURE VACANCIES.

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED. Prior criminal justice or public safety dispatching experience or training preferred. No criminal record. This is a 24 hour operation which may require mandatory overtime and work on a non-traditional shift. An extensive background investigation will be conducted with regard to the successful applicant's work record and activities. Interested applicants must go to Michigan Works Service Center located on S. Cedar Street and request the City of Lansing Data Entry Test. Attach your results to a completed City of Lansing Employment Application. Candidates who pass the Data Entry Test will have 30 wpm with 90% accuracy or 35 wpm with 80% accuracy indicated on the Data Entry Test results sheet. Submit all materials to the City of Lansing Department of Human Resources. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis.

Firefighter I

Salary: $40,236/yr

Applicants must possess a High School Diploma or GED. Possession of Michigan Firefighter Training Council Firefighter II Certification. Possession of either an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification OR an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic) License. Thirty (30) college credit hours in Fire Science or any field preferred. Applicants must complete a City of Lansing application by January 30, 2009. Provide proof of education and all certifications. Police Officer 1

Salary: $39,068 yr.

Requirements Include: THIS POSTING IS TO ESTABISH A ROSTER OF ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES FOR FUTURE VACANCIES.

Effective January 1, 2009, the salary will be $39,654.16/yr.

(Candidates must follow instructions thoroughly in this position announcement.)

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED and completion of ninety (90) term or sixty (60) semester hours of college level course work. (In some cases, twenty-nine and one-half (29.5) semester credits is acceptable.) Major credits in Law Enforcement are desirable. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Following are the special requirements for this position.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays and on an overtime basis.
2. Must be twenty-one (21) years of age on date of appointment.
3. Must be a citizen of the United States of America.
4. Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's License at time of employment and possess a satisfactory driving record.
5. Must not have pending, or have been convicted of any felony.
charges and pass a criminal history record check.
6. Must meet physical standards as determined by the City's Medical Director.
