Construction Project Monitoring
Resident Employment Monitoring
Contractors on City construction projects must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against on the basis of age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, height, weight, disability, marital status, or political orientation as required by City of Lansing Ordinance Section 206.20. In addition, City of Lansing Mayoral Executive Order of May 18, 1994 states: "No person or group engaged in the conduct of official business or seeking to do business with the City of Lansing shall be discriminated against because of the sexual orientation or the gender preference of that group or person." Further, the City of Lansing desires employment opportunities be provided to City residents. To achieve this, all contractors on City construction projects are asked for a voluntary commitment that 25% of total project work hours be performed by City residents.
Prevailing Wage Ordinance Monitoring
The City of Lansing's Purchasing Ordinance Section 206.18 requires that all mechanics and laborers working on City-funded construction projects be paid the prevailing wage for each work classification as published for the County of Ingham, State of Michigan by the U.S. Department of Labor.
