Burn Permits

It's that time of year again when everyone starts thinking of Spring and Summer grilling, cook-outs and bon-fires.  The City of Lansing requires a burn permit to do these things.

You can now purchase a permit through the U.S. Postal Service (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF NEW RESIDENTS AND/OR FIRST TIME PERMIT REQUESTERS).  Below is a link to the Burn Permit Application.  Click here to read the Fire Marshal's letter on burn permit updates and changes.  For additional information or assistance, please contact the Fire Marshals office at 517-483-4200 and speak with Michelle Greko.

New Residents and/or First Time Permit Requesters:  if this is your first time purchasing a burn permit for the City of Lansing, you MUST APPLY IN PERSON.  Proof of residency is required, such as drivers license, rental contract (will need homeowners written permission), electrical bill, telephone bill, etc.

Please Note:  If you purchased a Burn Permit last year (anytime after April 1st), that permit has expired as of March 30, 2012 and you will need to purchase a new permit.
