316 N. Capitol Ave, Ste C-1 (In the North Capitol Parking Ramp, Code Compliance Office)

Burn Permit Applications, Fire Report Requests & Plan Review Applications MUST BE SUBMITTED AT THE NEW LOCATION

Burn Permits

With the burning season in full swing, we want to remind you to get your Burn Permit. You can now apply and pay for your permit on-line or in person at Fire Administration. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable burn season!

Burn Permits can now be purchased on line. Burn Permits are $50 per year from April 1 - March 31 and $25 from October 1 - March 31. Permits can only be purchased on line; or in person Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lansing Fire Department, 120 E. Shiawassee St, Lansing MI 48933. You can pick up a permit during these times or fill out the Burn Permit Application listed below.

Apply for a Permit On-Line

You can now purchase a permit on line. Read the Fire Marshal's letter on burn permit updates and changes. For additional information or assistance, please contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at 517-483-4200 and speak with Jennifer Hovey.

Request a Permit in Person

Proof of residency is required, such as driver’s license, rental contract (will need homeowners written permission), electrical bill, telephone bill, etc.

Please Note: If you purchased a Burn Permit last year (any time after April 1st), that permit has expired as of March 30, 2012 and you will need to purchase a new permit.
