The Purchasing Office procures goods and services needed by the various City of Lansing departments and their employees. Our primary objective is to purchase the goods and services the departments need to serve the citizens at the best value. The Purchasing Office strives to make decisions in the City's and citizens' best interests using sound, prudent and consistent purchasing practices.
In response to the citizens and members of the business community, the City Council has enacted a Local Preference Ordinance.
In furtherance of 2008-02 Executive Order, potential vendors with the City are advised of the following: "The City of Lansing gives preference to Lansing-based job providers in the procurement of all goods and services."
The City of Lansing encourages all vendors including MBE/WBE/HBE vendors to participate in the purchasing process for the City. Click for more information regarding the City's Supplier Diversity program.
