Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements for Police Officer 1
  1. Must be 21 years of age on the date of appointment.
  2. Must be a citizen of the United States of America.
  3. Must possess a valid Michigan Drivers License at the time of employment.
  4. Physical condition must be adequate to perform the essential functions of a police officer as determined be the City of Lansing Medical Director.
  5. The standard visual acuity without correction must be at least 20/100 in both eyes with a binocular vision of 20/100, correctable to 20/20 in each eye with lenses.
  6. Must posses a minimum of 90 term or 60 semester credit hours from as accredited college {in some instances, 53 term hours or 36 semester credit hours would be acceptable}.Major credits in law enforcement are desirable.
  7. No felony convictions.
  8. Must have begun a Hepatitis B inoculation program at the City of Lansing Medical Facility prior to employment.
