Brian Jeffries was first elected to the Lansing City Council on November 6, 2002, finishing out the remaining two years of a former councilmember's term.  He was overwhelmingly re-elected in 2005 to carry out another 4 year term. 

Brian brings a wealth of experience to Council.  He is an attorney who received his Juris Doctor Degree from Cooley Law School.  He also carries both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology from Michigan State University.

Brian is a partner in the Law Firm of Jeffries & Newton in East Lansing since 1984.  In the past, his general private practice emphasized zoning and land use issues.  Currently, he provides legal services for undergraduate and graduate students attending Michigan State University.

Over the years Brian has held a number of positions on boards as well as elected office, chairing an array of committee meetings.  He was elected to the Ingham County Board of Commissioners (1983-1992), Housing Commissioner with the Lansing Housing Commission (1993-2002), and Lansing Community College Board of Trustees (1997-2003).
