Requesting Recognition of a Non-Profit Organization in the City of Lansing
(to obtain a Charitable Gaming License from the State of Michigan)

Please submit the following items to the City Clerk's Office:
- A completed Application for Recognition of Non-Profit Status in the City of Lansing. Make sure to use the organization's legal name - do not submit paperwork with a dba name.
- A copy of your 501 (c) 3 designation
- A copy of your Articles of Incorporation
- A copy of your bylaws
- $100 processing fee payable to the City of Lansing or fee waiver request

Your information will be submitted by the Clerk's Office to the City Council and referred to the General Services Committee

The General Services Committee will hold a hearing on the recognition; Council Staff will inform you of the date, time, and location. The Committee will usually recommend a Resolution granting non-profit status for adoption by the full City Council.

Once the City Council has approved the Resolution, the Clerk's Office will provide you with a certified "Local Governing Body Resolution for Charitable Gaming Licenses" form; this may be picked up after 12 noon the day after the Resolution is adopted. We will also send a copy directly to the State Charitable Gaming Commission
Once your organization is recognized by resolution of the city council of the City of Lansing as a non-profit organization, you are permanently recognized and do not need to reapply. PLEASE KEEP A COPY FOR YOUR RECORDS.
