About

This department consists of the following divisions:

Planning Office

Check out the Planning Office's new website where you will find "On-Line Convenience and Personal Service" right at your fingertips.  Here you will find information about zoning, comprehensive planning, and historic preservation.  Plus, there are forms, documents, meeting schedules, and answers to frequently asked questions about zoning procedures.

Code Compliance

The housing and zoning codes provide the minimum requirements for the protection of life, limb, health, property, safety and welfare of the general public and the owners and occupants of residential buildings, accessory buildings and premises. Visit the website for a listing of Codes and Regulations today!

Building Safety

If you are interested in finding information on building permits and site plans, you can check out the Building Safety website today! The site is filled with new and important information.

Development - Housing Assistance

Over $2 million of Federal funds received annually by the City are budgeted for housing programs. This amount leverages millions of dollars of other public and private investment to improve housing and neighborhoods in the city. Visit the Development Office website to find out more information on the various housing assistance programs the City of Lansing has to offer.

Parking Services Office

Formerly part of the Transportation and Parking Office, we are now the Parking Services Office (Transportation has been merged into the Public Service Department).  The Parking Services Office offers a wide variety of parking options - including four downtown parking ramps, several parking lots, and on-street meters.  We have several payment options, each designed to meet a specific need.  There are options for daily long-term parkers, and parkers with less frequent parking needs.  By clicking above, you can find all of what we offer.  Please check back occasionally to see what is new.
