The Purchasing Office procures goods and services needed by the various City of Lansing departments and their employees. Our primary objective is to purchase the goods and services the departments need to serve the citizens at the best value. The Purchasing Office strives to make decisions in the City's and citizens' best interests using sound, prudent and consistent purchasing practices.

Local Preference Ordinance

In response to the citizens and members of the business community, the City Council has enacted a Local Preference Ordinance.  The Council's Local Preference Ordinance provides opportunities for Lansing Based Businesses to become part of the City's purchasing process.

Supplier Diversity Program

If you are already certified as a Minority, Woman or Person's with a Disability owned firm or your firm is 51% minority, women or person with a disability-ownership and the owner participates in the day-to-day operation of the business you may be eligible for the City's Supplier Diversity Program.  The City of Lansing encourages all vendors including MBE/WBE/HBE vendors to participate in the purchasing process for the City.

Visit the City Clerk page to view the City of Lansing Purchasing Ordinance or any of the other City Ordinances.
