School Tour Programs
NEW PROGRAMS
* With each of our new programs, students
will be able to create a project to take home.
ARCHITECTURE PROGRAM
Students will
learn about basic architecture design with specific influence on the
Turner-Dodge House. Students will design
a room as if they were an architect.
CHIEF OKEMOS PROGRAM
Students will
learn about Chief Okemos and hear a story about one of his visits to the Turner
family. Students will be able to make a
diorama of Chief Okemos’ visit to the Turner home.
MYSTERY BOX PROGRAM
Students will
learn about the stories of James Turner and discover historical artifacts from
the Turner-Dodge Mystery Box of Artifacts.
Students will be able to make a Wholly Copter to take home.
Special
Come and
experience the holidays at the Turner-Dodge House. Students will learn about the holiday
traditions of the Turner and Dodge families.
This special 90 minute program includes a tour of the house and
historical holiday tradition’s lesson.
In addition, each student will be able to make their own holiday
ornament. Please Note: Ornaments may
be modified to fit student’s cultural needs if known in advance at the time
your reservation is booked.
OLD FAN FAVORITES
Our fan favorite
programs offer students an opportunity to have a first hand experience if
history. Please note that the Washday Blues program with a Tour of the House do
not allow time for students to make a project to take home.
CANDLE MAKING PROGRAM
Students will
learn about the history and experience the art of candle making. Students will be able to make their own
candle.
WASHDAY BLUES
Students will
experience the thrill of cleaning in the 1858 time period. Please

Timeless Toys
Students will
learn about historic toys. Students will
be able to play with some of our historic toys and make their own Thaumotrope.
