Holmes Road Reconstruction
Martin Luther King Boulevard to Cedar Street
Start Date: April 22, 2014
Projected Completion Date: August 2014
Contractor: C & D Hughes, Inc.
Cost: 1.6 Million
Beginning June 3rd, 2014
- Detour for Holmes Road will be Mt. Hope Avenue
- Information on future phases will be released as the project progresses
5/6/14: A ten foot in diameter storm sewer manhole was replaced at the intersection of Holmes Road and Washington Avenue.
5/13/14: New road gravel has been laid, as seen on the left side of this picture.
5/21/14: With all of the rain last week, the project has fallen a little bit behind. However, the crew is working hard to get back on schedule! The road gravel is in and the crew is tying in some water connections. The new sections of curb will be poured later in the week.
5/23/14: (Top) Holmes Road being graded in preparation of paving.
(Bottom) The Curb machine pouring curb.
The section between Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Washington Ave. will be paved next week and reopened to Washington Ave.
Then, the portion from Washington Ave. to Cedar St. will be worked on.
5/29/14: Holmes Road being paved.
5/31/14: Holmes road between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Washington Avenue is now open.
Phase 1 is complete.
6/3/14: Milling off of existing asphalt on the north side of Holmes Road between Washington Avenue and Cedar Street.
Phase II has begun.
6/11/14: Holmes Road Phase II: (Washington to Cedar) Water main installation.
7/16/14: Intersection of Stabler and Holmes. The new watermain is being tied into the Stabler watermain and the utility poles are being located by BWL.
