A great event for veterans and non-veterans from all around Michigan.

Family Friendly- All indoors with crafts table. The ceremony will be educational and great for people of all ages.

Great job Baker Neighbors and the many volunteers who helped clear gutters and drains in Baker Neighborhood in time for all that rain! 

The Greater Lansing Housing Coalition tool truck was on hand and full of rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows.  You can reserve it or the Lansing Parks and Recreation tool truck for your next neighborhood cleanup.

PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN: Gun Violence Prevention Strategies

3800 children were killed or injured by guns in 2016. This free community forum will feature presentations on this critical issue by the following experts:

Linda Brundidge, Executive Director of Michigan Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence (MCPGV)

Scott Nichols, Retired Michigan State Police and member of MOMS Demand Action and Board Member of MCPGV

Emily Durbin, Chapter Leader for MI MOMS Demand Action

Sonja Lewis, MD, MPH, Executive Committee for Physicians for Prevention of Gun Violence

Did your neighborhood complete a project this year with funding from the Neighborhood Advisory Board grant?  We'd love to feature your successful project or event in our 2017 report.  Send your photos and a project description to Ben Thompson at ben.thompson@lansingmi.gov by December 8.  



Have a Great Idea for your Neighborhood? 


Apply for a $100 stipend & host a great block party or plan something bigger and apply for a small (up to $650) or large (up to $3,000) project grant. Ready to make an even bigger impact? Apply to take on a Love Your Block project of up to $5,000 and work directly with the Neighborhood Resource Team to bring your project to life.  See the 2017 Love Your Block project report link below for examples. 


All applications are due Jan. 12, 2018 and funds are awarded April 2018.

The Neighborhood Advisory Board Grant Feedback meeting will be held on Tuesday December 14th 6:00 pm at Foster Community Center.  Bring your grant idea or draft application and get feedback from the board on ways to strengthen your proposal.  The grant preview is highly recommended, especially for first time applicants.
