(LANSING) – Mayor Virg Bernero and the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation will announce a new partnership with the YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing to provide enhanced aquatic and swim programs in the city’s indoor and outdoor pools. The YMCA’s certified swim instructors will teach water safety, swim classes for youth and adults, as well as aquatic exercise programs.
In cooperation with the Lansing School District, the Parks and Recreation Department will also announce the addition of side-by-side vertical climbing walls in the Lansing School District Pool located within the Alfreda Schmidt Southside Community Center. This fun, unique new feature has been added to the pool and swimmers may enjoy climbing during open swim.
Both announcements, and a ribbon cutting ceremony for the pool improvements, will beheld Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at the Alfreda Schmidt Southside Community Center, located at 5825 Wise Road in Lansing.
