What should I do with my CFL light bulbs?

A: CFL's or compact fluorescent light bulbs contain a small amount of mercury, about 5 milligrams, roughly the size of the tip of a ball-point pen, therefore the US EPA recommends taking it to a local household hazardous waste collection.  Ingham County residents may drop them off at The Ingham County Health Dept's household hazardous waste collection between May-September, on Thursdays from 2-6pm. Please double bag the bulbs before dropping them off.
