For every 1000 tons of recyclables that the City collects:

  • 14,903 trees are saved 
  • 6,404,606 gallons of water are saved 
  • 408,412 gallons of gasoline are saved 
  • 2,856 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions are saved
Recycling

Convenient “single stream” recycling means no sorting. Service is available to single family households in the City of Lansing. Commercial recycling service is available to businesses in Lansing.

 

Trash

Household trash collection options include: convenient, heavy duty roll out trash carts, blue city trash bags, bulk item collection for items over 30 pounds and/or longer than 4 feet, such as appliances and furniture.

Yard Waste

Curbside collection is available for leaves, grass clippings, tree trimmings and other organic yard waste materials. Items are picked up weekly on a seasonal basis between April and November.

The CART office will be closed on Monday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.  Curbside collections will be delayed by one day throughout the week.
