Outdoor Warning Sirens

The City of Lansing has a system of 20 outdoor warning sirens to alert the public to an imminent hazard. The sirens are only intended to warn people who are outdoors. Since 2007 the City has participated in a regional Alert and Warning Work-group, intended to improve warning systems throughout Mid-Michigan. One of the tasks of the work-group is to standardize outdoor warning systems so that the sirens mean the same thing in every community. The Ingham County 911 center can currently activate sirens for the City of Lansing, Delhi Township, Meridian Township and Williamston.

Sirens are tested the first Saturday of each month at 1 p.m.
